Why did you start travel blogging? How long have you been doing it?
I've worked in the industry for so long and constantly have family and friends wanting advice about places to go.
I thought the best place to share this was through my blog, then I could share my experiences and knowledge with everyone around the world. I started Yummy Love Journey in January 2015 and since then it has evolved to include my 2 passions, travelling and learning.
Name your top 3 most memorable places?
Bali, for the variety, Cuba, for the beaches and India, because it feels like home.
What’s the best thing about being a travel blogger?
I get to meet so many amazing people and I’m always learning something new, I love that.
I see every opportunity as an opportunity to learn, whether it’s about myself or something or someone else.
And the worst?! (if there is one)
The jet-lag can sometimes get to you. However, I wrote an article about beating jetlag, so really I should use my own advice!
Give your top tip to a blogger starting out
Collaboration. No-one has ever achieved anything doing it all by themselves.
We all need each other to make a difference in the world.
Hotel freebies: take ‘em’ or leave ‘em’?
It depends if it fits with your way of thinking and philosophies. I only write about positive experiences.
If I didn't like something, I’ll directly feed it back to the person or company involved. This then gives me and them the opportunity to learn and grow from it.
What’s at the top of your list for destinations this year?
The Northern Lights. I haven't quite yet decided which country I want to go see them from.
This year is supposedly the last year of when they’re at their best, so I better get deciding quick!
Why should people subscribe to your page?
For the knowledge, experience and the fun!
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve eaten on your travels?
I ate some snake fruit recently in Bali, it doesn't taste as scary as it sounds. The skin’s like a snake's skin and is known locally as Salak.
Our waitress at breakfast suggested I try it and personally picked one out for me. Once peeled it has the texture of a hard pear. Delicious!
Name a place, city, or country where you feel happiest?
I very rarely go back to the same place as I believe there’s so much of the world to see.
I’m happy as long as the sun is shining, I can hear the sea, and am surrounded by my favourite people.
Where’s your next adventure?
At the time of writing this, I’m off to Portugal soon, and excited because I’ve never been.
We’re staying at an eco-hotel on the edge of a pine forest. Keep tuned for a write-up on it soon.
