Why IQPlanner?

How it works?

IQPlanner is a catalogue of exciting travel adventures and a travel planner, that allows to build a perfect vacation from scratch. It helps easily find thrilling adventures, submitted by famous bloggers, travel photographers and travelers, and use their experience to make your own travel plan.

You can also create your own adventure from scratch and keep it for the future, share it with your friends or even get paid for it. IQPlanner offers intuitive tools that enable you to plan a trip even when you don’t have all the information. You can say that it’s the first travel constructor.

With IQPlanner you can handle a task like planning a multi-city trip to New York, Austin and San Francisco in December, even if you don’t know travel dates or stops sequence yet, or how long you should stay in each city.

IQPlanner works with real-life scenarios, unlike travel search engines and the likes. The platform lets you create an end-to-end travel plan, which includes transportation, accommodation and entertainment (coming soon), put it all in one place and share it with other people.

IQPlanner doesn’t collect money for tickets, hotels or any other parts of your trip. Our goal is to provide all the tools for building a perfect travel plan. But we make sure that you can easily navigate from your plan to our partner services: websites for flight and hotel bookings, along with entertainment and transportation providers. You pay for the services directly on websites of the partners, whose offers ended up on your plan and they pay us for the traffic we generate.

Our users’ trust is extremely important to us, and we appreciate the fact that they choose us for such a serious task as creating a trip plan. That is why we only work with trusted provides and recommend their services.

What’s the difference between IQPlanner’s adventures and travel reviews on other websites?

IQPlanner collaborates with travel magazines, photographers and bloggers, offering them to transform their personal stories into a completely new media format — adventures.

Adventure, a pre-made template for your future trip, is booking-ready and features only essential information, best pictures and videos.

Some of our partners use only this format to share their experiences with readers. Looking through an adventure is much easier than reading an article. If a reader is interested in the story, he or she can create a travel plan, based on its author’s adventure, and simply adjust dates or any other information (hotels, cities, attractions).

All adventures on IQPlanner are assembled in a catalogue, reviewed and rated by users, and have tags to help users find stories that fit them best, using theme filters (beach, gastronomic tour) or geofilters (country, resort).

Why can IQPlanner create a complicated trip plan, while other platforms can’t?

Why is it so complicated?

Existing booking services inevitably face certain technological barriers, that cause travel planning to be a tedious task.

First of all, it’s a rather long request processing by Global Distribution Systems (GDS).

Here’s an example that illustrates the task complexity. A user wants to fly from New-York to Paris and back, stay at a 4-star hotel for 5 to 7 days and keep within budget of $1500. Also he’s ready to travel any time during the next 30 days.

To build such a plan you need to send 90 requests to find a hotel: 3 requests for each of 30 days and different length of stay — 5, 6 or 7 days. Add here another 90 requests to search for airplane tickets. So we get 180 requests, that would take a system more than 15 minutes to process, even if it made sequential calls to GDS. Then all the data received still needs to be analyzed, in order to find the best combination. Doing that manually would be ridiculously time-consuming.

Our Know How This is where IQPlanner team made a breakthrough. The system core allows to drastically decrease the number of calls to GDS, streamline evaluation and reduce user’s order processing to 1-2 minutes.

What IQPlanner can do

The most obvious example of how our technology can be put to use is finding a perfect day to start a trip and/or calculate trip duration (e.g. 10 to 14 days), by giving a month timeframe. IQPlanner will predict price changes during the given period and choose the best option cost-wise.

To get this result manually, you’d have to write down all cheap ticket prices for all possible combinations of round trip dates. Then you’d have to do the same for hotel offers — find and write down the lowest accommodation prices for every possible date and stay duration. And the third step would be summing up flight and accommodation costs for every possible day/trip length to finally find out when and for how long it’s more practical to travel.

This is the easiest task IQPlanner can handle. There are far more complex ones, that are basically impossible to cope with on your own: using IQPlanner you can find the most comfortable and cost-efficient stop sequences, calculate optimal stay duration, based on hotel and ticket price changes or choose what kind of transportation it is better to use at a certain place.

How does IQPlanner decide how many days to spend at a certain place?

If you need to visit several cities during one trip, with IQPlanner you don’t have to specify how many days you want to spend in each of them.

In this case IQPlanner will analyze all possible combinations of hotel and transportation fares, consider your accommodation preferences and offer you the best possible plan in terms of cost and comfort.

IQPlanner not only suggests the best possible length of stay, but also optimizes the sequence of stops.

Planning my own trip

How to plan a trip from scratch?

With IQPlanner you can plan a trip without knowing all the details. For example, you want to visit Amsterdam, Paris, Orlean, Marseille and Barcelona, and spend 3 to 5 days in each city. Stops sequence and ways to travel between cities make no difference.

To start simply click “Plan your own trip” on the homepage.

Default value for all the fields is “Best Option”. If you haven’t decided on departure and return dates yet, just leave the fields blank. In this case IQPlanner will offer the best dates to travel in terms of cost and comfort. You can also give an approximate time frame. To do that, just click in the date field and use the calendar picker to set a time period for your trip.

By default IQPlanner offers accommodation in every city. In case you don’t need that, simply uncheck the checkbox. In case you do need accommodation, you can specify your preferences: accommodation type, name of a hotel, maximum star rating and maximum distance from a city center.

Once you’ve entered all your preferences, it’s IQPlanner’s turn. The system will calculate all possible combinations for the trip and provide best options. Once you see «Your trip is ready for booking» above the map, it means the system has finished planning. After that you can check the plan, make necessary adjustments and proceed with your booking.

In case you made changes to the plan IQPlanner will recalculate it.

If you agree with all the trip parameters, you can proceed with booking by clicking “Book” to navigate to our partner’s website.

You can also turn you plan into an adventure so that you can share it with your friends or publish in the catalogue and get paid every time someone else uses it.

How to book a trip?

Once your plan is ready you can proceed with booking.

IQPlanner puts all parts of your trip together in the most efficient way. It’s crucial that hotels are booked first, since the time when rooms keep pending booking status, and thus unavailable for others, is very short. Airplane tickets keep pending status much longer - up to 20 minutes and can be booked later.

There is “Purchase” button next to every element of your trip to navigate to our partner’s website. IQPlanner waits until every order for your trip has been confirmed.

Why do I need a personal account?

You don’t need registration to use IQPlanner. You can enter as a guest to plan and book your trip. However, having an IQPlanner account has multiple benefits. Register now!

Moreover, registered users can share unlisted plans with each other, which is great when you’re planning a trip together.

Registered users can turn their plans into adventures, that will be available to other users of IQPlanner. In this case the author of an adventure will receive a commission every time someone else books and pays for a trip, based on his or her adventure.

Registered users receive IQPlanner e-mail newsletter, prices updates and special offers. There are also very helpful travel tips on IQPlanner’s Facebook page.

How to save a plan?

What’s the best order to book a trip?

It’s crucial that hotels are booked first, since the time when rooms keep pending booking status, and thus are unavailable for others, is very short.

Airplane tickets keep pending status much longer - up to 20 minutes and can be booked later.

What does “Recommended” in a plan template mean?

“Recommended” is default value for most of the fields. Since IQPlanner can calculate and find the most comfortable and practical combinations for complex itineraries, it can recommend the best departure date or stay length.

Just leave the fields blank if dates are not critical, and IQPlanner will pick the best options.
